Me – Yesterday on Hastings Street – August 24th 2022

Me Yesterday on Hastings Street. One of our Ministers was working a shift with Mission Possible, the job is to keep the women’s resource center free and clear of people using and doing all manner of F”ed up stuff in front of the entrances.

She was feeling overwhelmed, the streets are as they are a madhouse but yesterday was Welfare Wednesday so the madness is in high gear.
I got a call from her and headed out to join her for a bit, brought some ginger-ale and took in the sights and the smells 🙂 The front line in the war for life is full of creeps that cannot help but take cheap and wicked shots at you. There is no shame in calling in for back up support. “Captain John” knows how it is to be left behind enemy lines alone… It’s a gift really 🙂

After this we went out for some Chinese food, then off to Costco and we loaded up on Water, Gatorade and boxes of snack sized chips. We then did “Midnight Ministries” where we drive though the alleys of the DTES core and reach out with hydration and prayer to those that are suffering in addiction and mental illness in the alleys.

Yesterday was another good day. As much as I say I am done with the inner city missions field work I have to admit it comes very naturally to me, only by The Grace of The Lord God Almighty go I.
