The Out Reach / Ministry Wagon Needs Some Serious Repairs…?
UPDATE: THE ENGINE IS BLOWN… It is now parked in the Valley. I / we do not have $7K to have a new engine put in right now. I bought it to avoid costly repairs on the Jetta… I am now getting $1500.00 worth of break pads, routers and calipers done on it right now January 31st 2023.
————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
It is* with Rudy and Peter Motors right now on 2nd just off of Main Street in Vancouver. *(Edit: was with Rudy and Peter Motors)
They know their way around a VW / Audi without a doubt… That is why they are $140.00 / hour…
I have not heard what the bottom line is for the engine repairs…
I have emailed about a written estimate, still waiting to hear about that. Serge the owner / operator said he would not charge me for the labor he put in since it was brought back in in one week ago and would take of his parts.. I still do not know what parts he is talking about or if they where needed.
Having faith it will work out. Speaking of working out…
I am waiting on VGH / UBC spinal surgeon to contact me about the earliest available in person pre surgery consult, it has been a full year now since he saw my latest MRI. With this unexpected debt it looks like I will be finding some work to do to pay this off quickly and hope that .
Note: I still have the VW Jetta on the road so if you have an emergency or are in a pinch I am here.
The reason to get another car was:
1.) A more practical car, getting a wagon that I thought was a good value for the price and I / we could do more varied things with it in support of our small community and day to day life.
2.) The Jetta is almost @ 300k (288K), and had a recent fender bender during the November snow storm and the hood no longer opens as well as some other issues that need to be addressed. That was all it took to Then the transmission started slipping in 4th gear.
I though the thing to do was pick up another car and sell the Jetta to some one who was handy and could truly use the car to commute in as it is a diesel and the fuel economy is excellent. If I could work on it myself I would, I did not think to replace it this soon as I was and am happy to have it, and I know those who I help get around appreciate it too. Even though it is 19 years old and has some blemishes every thing works, everything. This TDI is an amazingly reliable little car.
I still plan to sell the Jetta to help cover the credit I have used to purchase the wagon and the final repair bill.
About this Audi A$ wagon…. The test drive went well, no check engine lights, the private seller I thought was honest and upfront about the car. It is a 4 cylinder and if you drive it not as a sports wagon but as a practical car you get decent gas mileage. It looked well maintained and was a Californian car to start…
There was not a lot that I saw in the way of availability and affordability for me on Craigslist and Facebook market place. The price I paid was the max I would be able to manage.
I performed a home wedding ceremony and after that I was going to drive Pastor Lloyd home and myself when the car just would not start…
As you know I self fund our small church group and am happy to be here, car and all to help not just us but those at The Listening Post and residents at Bruce Eriksen Place and other Affordable Housing Society buildings in the DTES.
IF YOU KNOW SOME ONE WHO COULD TAKE THIS MECHANICAL ON AND DO IT AT BUDGET PRICING PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
If you think you can manage it I could truly use anything you could pitch in to help cover / pay off the repairs. So far $984.00 in repairs have been carried out and paid for. I got about 30km from the mechanics shop and the car died on me and had to have it towed right back to garage.
I still do not know what it will cost to have the car in working order but please if you can contact me about helping out with this. <— (Edit / Update: The cost is purported to be $7,000.00)
As you know serving and being in the DTES we find our selves giving and not asking for help. This is one of those times when I find myself asking for your help.
Do not feel badly if you cannot help in paying for the repairs, please do pray that it will be well and some how manageable for me.
Maybe you know some one with a wrecked AUDI that would part with the engine either as a gift or a a fair or reduced price in support of The First Nations Bible College graduate led outreach. We are still planing on doing a First Nations centered missions trip to Vancouver Island as soon as is possible. Please keep us in mind.
Every Blessing,

WE NEED TO START A “GO FUND ME”… But who would we ask?
Can you help us with a short term parking spot. We need one ASAP.
Thanks so much.
We have found an “affordable” spot in Aldergrove… about 6km away from the USA boarder.

I have a 04 Jetta TDI with a slipping 4th gear at the moment. I purchased it close to two years ago, I have been driving it back and forth from Van to Edmonton Alberta where I have an ailing mother as well as to see a Nephew in Squamish. I was “duped” into buying a lemon in the form of a 06 Audi station wagon. The engine blew on it in 11 days and within 800km, and after having put on a new starter. I am still paying it all off. I used my private line of credit to buy it for a small group of folks who do voluntary outreach and community development in The DTES, as graduates from a First Nations seminary. I had not driven in 14 years, then COIVD came and I had to travel home, my mother has stage 4 kidney disease so each visit is important. Looking to Sell the Audi to pay it off.
Well after paying for storage fees for months the car sold. $1000.00 —> OUCH!
It went to a young man named Fraser. He plans to convert it to a V8 engine!
Guess What…?
The young guy who purchased this car stiffed me for a lousy $20.00, and after he agreed to drop off the license plates to me in Vancouver 10 minutes from me where he works.
When I texted him three or so days later to talk about a time to arrange it he said “I’m not an Amazon delivery driver”, and chose to act all indignant and well… I never got the plates back to hand back to ICBC.
