Jesus came to set us free from our slavery to sin
Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
-John 8:34
We know that those commit deliberate, premediated, willful sin against God are still children of the devil.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
-1 John 3:8
People need to understand that Jesus didn’t obey for us while living His life on earth, He lived His life and died as an example of what we must do in order to inherit eternal life.
Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.
-1 John 2:6
If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
-John 15:6
After making ourselves a clean vessel by dying with Christ in repentance through godly sorrow and the turning away from all deliberate sin we’ve been committing in the sight of God, we are raised from spiritual death in newness of life as a new creation sealed with the priceless gift of the Holy Spirit.
Just as Christ lived, so also we must live but the beauty is God’s grace after repentance makes it easy to live in obedience to God. We must die to our old selves in order than we can be set free and receive the grace of God.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
-John 8:36
