New Drug Alert: “ALMOST LOST MYSELF ON “7-OH” / 7-HYDROXYMITRAGINYNE FROM HELL”
13%-30% stronger than morphine.
This has not come to Canada yet, as far as I know, but it was brought to my attention due to mine and our ministers outreach in Vancouver’s DTES.

7-Hydroxymitragynine is a natural opioid alkaloid found in the plant Mitragyna speciosa (kratom) and is also a metabolite of the alkaloid mitragynine in the human body.
- It has a greater binding affinity for opioid receptors than mitragynine and is synthesized in the liver through oxidation.
- Its chemical formula is \(C_{23}H_{30}N_{2}O_{5}\) and its molar mass is \(414.5\) g/mol.
- ]It is found in the Mitragyna speciosa plant, also known as kratom
Mechanism: It is produced in the human body as an active metabolite of mitragynine through hepatic (liver) oxidation.
Pharmacology: It has a greater binding affinity to μ-opioid receptors compared to mitragynine.
^^This is a tricky compound even though it is natural it is as problematic as any synthetic opiate / opioid.
In short it metabolizes really quickly in the liver into morphine. Sounds like if it is processed and concentrated some over the counter versions have concentrations that reach the equivalent of 30 units of morphine per similar 7-OH dose.
As part of a battle field medics kit, survivalist kit, off grid medicine chest item this could have a place but it does not have a place on the streets and head shops where youth are shopping for the next new thing.

If you see anyone with “7-OH” on them watch your possessions, your children and your wallets / purses and your sanity.

Florida classified 7-Hydroxymitragynine, more commonly known as “7-OH” from being sold. The concentrated kratom pills are being called incredibly addictive, and fears their continued sale on gas station and smoke shop shelves will lead to another substance abuse crisis.
