Yesterday I did outreach with Jenn and John Riley (Midnight Ministries).
I drive the alley ways of Vancouver’s “ghetto” (the DTES) and we give out snacks and do a overdose watch when we are out and about.

I got out of the car for one guy who was unresponsive. Jenn got on the horn to 911, it was not looking good, I was talking to this guy as he was slumped over, I touched his shoulder and his back. Nothing.

Then I bent down and took his hand to lift up his arm so I could check his pulse. I did it with much respect and that is all it took…. He snapped out of it instantly…. Jenn ended the emergency services call. She gave him some pop and chips and we wished him the best with some words of encouragement.

The last group of people we reached where 5-6 working girls on a corner. It is amazing how, a small snack and good intentions will light up someone.

Then after we where done we decided to decompress and get out of the city so “I” “decided” to go to Crescent Beach in Whiterock.

I “missed” an exit tun off and we ended up crossing the bridge into Richmond. Jenn says she needs a bathroom, so I pull over to the first available thing that was open, a McDonald’s. It was 5 minutes to it’s closing.

Low and behold brother Tony was there… He did the previous outreach night with Jenn and John. What are the odds that I would miss an exit, pull into a random McDonald’s and Tony would be there…?

The highway drive , the beach and the twinkling lights of the city left far behind us (if even for a short while) was a blessing.

Another day of “ordinary miracles”. God is Good and let no man, nor fallen angel deceive you otherwise. His steadfast love endures forever, his mercy endures for ever and all things work to the good to those who are called according to his purposes.
